Blending oceanic nature with elegant form

Our vision is simple: transcending tradition through creation.

Golden Cowrie started with a humble dream; to share our love of heritage through art. We quickly realised the potential to share our unique journey and crafted our mission - to create the world's most inspirational and luxurious island style brand.

By incorporating Shell Money hand carved by the local artisans of Solomon Islands, we aim to pay homage to the precious materials of our ancestors, while infusing the luxury, metallic accents of the present day.

Two words come to mind - tropical elegance.

By blending traditional materials with modern finishes, Golden Cowrie endeavours to celebrate the natural beauty of the modern woman through exquisite, local design.

Every Golden Cowrie piece shares a story — from conception of design and artisanal handiwork, to precious moments experienced by the wearer. Each piece exudes an element of raw, natural beauty, a gift from mother Earth highlighted by gold or silver plating. Our jewellery is made by artisans across the Solomon Islands and Australia.

Our Shell Money beads begin their journey as humble shells harvested from Langa Langa Lagoon, in Malaita Province, Solomon Islands.

Local artisans then spend countless hours crushing the shells into tiny pieces and hand carving them into individual beads known as 'Shell Money'.

Traditionally, Shell Money was used as a form of currency, for bride and land payments, settling disputes and ceremonial events. Over time, the beads have increasingly also been used to create beautiful pieces of wearable art and jewellery.

We hope to highlight the priceless, cultural significance of these sacred Shell Money beads in our creations.

Shell money from the Solomon Islands, blended with modern luxury finishes. Golden Cowrie showcases the very best in high end island design and sophistication.

Our Cowrie Shells

Not only do our cowrie shells look divine, they also carry a deep spiritual significance.

In many cultures around the world, they are often considered a symbol of wealth and prosperity, fertility, destiny and protection; as cowries are connected to the spirit of the ocean.

As such, a gift from Golden Cowrie, is much more than a stunning piece of jewellery.
